Evening Press Reader's Letter

Why do you say in your leader that "it was a bad budget for the motorist"? (Evening Press, March 22).

Road fund duty was either frozen, or for less than 1200cc engined-cars, or reduced, while the emission-based duty to come for new cars should also mean a reduction for a lot of drivers.

Petrol tax was raised only in line with inflation. For most working people this means a real reduction because earnings have generally risen faster than inflation in the last year. So what's bad about that?
