The Gurkhas are one of the most famed fighting forces in the British and Indian armies.
Now some of these solders from Nepal are to be based in York.
The sight of these fine fighting men in our city should be a cause of pride - and also a happy reminder that we live in multi-cultural times. The Gurkhas have served Britain well in untold wars. York should repay this long service by ensuring that the Gurkhas receive a warm Yorkshire welcome.
