With reference to the headline about hunger striker Barry Horne (Prison Hunger Striker Back In Hospital Bed, Evening Press, January 26), I, and my family, think it's despicable that this man - whose illness is self-inflicted - has a bed in York District Hospital while people with genuine illnesses are kept waiting for life-saving and emergency operations. Having just come out of hospital having had a small stroke over the Christmas and New Year period I take this opportunity to thank all the doctors and nurses on ward 34.
