With reference to the headline about hunger striker Barry Horne (Prison Hunger Striker Back In Hospital Bed, Evening Press, January 26), I, and my family, think it's despicable that this man - whose illness is self-inflicted - has a bed in York District Hospital while people with genuine illnesses are kept waiting for life-saving and emergency operations.
He should be left in his cell to suffer.

...My feeling is that Barry Horne is seeking as much attention as he can to his situation. If he was serious about 'ending his life' then he would not seek publicity, just get on with it.
The best thing you can do is to stop covering his story, especially on the front page.
A person who will take up a hospital bed for a more deserving patient, in my opinion, due to his own stupidity, does not merit coverage.
I am sure people waiting for a hospital bed will agree with me.
