Evening Press Reader's Letter
The article about high hedges in Hambleton district (Evening Press, January 10) prompts me to remind your readers that one of the alternative solutions proposed in the report, i.e mediation, is already available to all City of York Council residents.
Face To Face: Neighbourhood Mediation in York, has been successfully helping neighbours resolve their problems and disputes for well over two years.
Although most of our disputes involve noise, children, pets, or cars, one in seven disputes have been about boundaries and hedges.
Mediation's aim is to help neighbours find mutually satisfactory solutions to their problems together - and it works.
Thanks to funding from the Safer York Partnership this free service is now available to all residents in the City of York Council area.
They are encouraged to contact Face To Face on (01904) 553838 to discuss how mediation can help them. A team of trained volunteer mediators is available to help provide this free, confidential, independent service.
