LIONS SHARE: Pam Tanner, President of the Minster Lions, presents a cheque for £6,315 to Steven Harker, of St Leonard's Hospice, as members of all three organisations, including Evening Press editor Liz Page, back row, fourth from right, look on
Lions and reindeers have between them raised more than £6,000 for the Hospice 2000 appeal.
Rocking Rudolph, with the help of the Minster Lions, rode across York raising money for the appeal with keen collectors braving the winter chill at his side.
Lions President Pam Tanner proudly declared that they had "beaten their target" as she handed over the cheque for £6,315.15.
"It took a great effort from everyone involved and we'd like to thank those who helped collect and those who donated the money," she said.
Steven Harker, chief executive of St Leonard's Hospice, gratefully received the money. "You'll have to set a higher target for next year!" he joked. "Thank you so much for your support."
