I would like to congratulate the people who took their landlady to court for illegal eviction (January 18).
I am at present having the same problem with my landlord. He has just taken over the property that I live in and is evicting me with less than a month's notice.
I am not a bad tenant (although when you mention eviction to anyone they automatically think that you are). I have paid my rent on time for the past six years. I do not disturb anyone in the house and I have not damaged the property.
I just don't agree with a 45 per cent rent increase when nothing has been done to improve the property.
It isn't always the tenant at fault. It is often the landlord/lady who is abusing the tenant. I don't get a 45 per cent wage increase so why should they?
