Grass Island who produced a convincing performance to score at Fontwell earlier this month, is napped to produce an encore on the same course tomorrow.

The 11-year-old, trained by Tom McGovern, goes for the Amberley Novices' Handicap Chase and will again have the services of Phillip Hide, who rode him to victory a fortnight ago.

On that occasion Grass Island was soon at the head of affairs and, sticking to his task in tremendous style, won by seven lengths from Indian Run.

Grass Island steps up an extra half-mile tomorrow, and has a recent course and distance winner in Brostaig Ort to content with. But, clearly in excellent heart, he is fancied to score again.

The Portsmouth Intermediate Handicap Hurdle offers Royal Castle the chance to complete a hat-trick of wins.

Mark Tompkins' gelding, who got off the mark at Towcester in November, followed-up in the style of a useful horse in the making at Doncaster last month when beating Secret Style by a length and a half.

Tony McCoy, who partnered three winners at Haydock on Saturday, can continue his excellent run at Fontwell.

Ecuyer Du Roi, trained by Martin Pipe, can carry McCoy to victory in the Fareham Juvenile Novices' Hurdle, while the same team can lift the EBF Panacur Mares' Only Novices' Hurdle with the unbeaten Anna Karnali.

At Leicester, Barney Knows should not be overlooked in the Croxton Park Novices' Hurdle.

Trained at Norton by Mark Peill, Barney Knows, a useful bumper horse last season, has twice finished second in high-class company over timber this term.

He can open his winning account tomorrow before going on to better things.

In the Tote Exacta 1-2 Showcase Handicap Hurdle, Desert Sand can make the most of her light weight.

From the in-form stable of Kevin Morgan, Desert Sand was beaten five lengths by the highly-regarded Poachers Run at Sedgefield last time over an extended two miles and five furlongs.

Tomorrow's slightly shorter trip, and the return to handicap company, may be in favour of Desert Sand, who is expected to run a big race. Adie Smith, successful on Pats Cross at Catterick on Saturday, has the mount.
