Yorkshire have back-tracked on their previous decision not to allow two resolutions on to the agenda for the club's annual meeting in Sheffield on March 4.

Now members will be able to vote on a motion of no confidence in the committee and also on a resolution urging Yorkshire to bring back Championship cricket to Harrogate and Sheffield.

The U-turn was agreed at an emergency meeting of the general committee at Headingley on Saturday which had been called to give further consideration to the two proposals.

The outgrounds resolution, tabled by Sheffield-based Robert Jackson, was originally ruled ineligible because its seconder, former Harrogate CC cricket chairman David Brook, had not been a Yorkshire member for two consecutive years owing to a short break in his membership.

After reconsideration, however, Yorkshire decided the breach could be rectified if an alternative seconder was found, and Jackson is now in the process of sorting this out.

Yorkshire chief executive Chris Hassell said that the same resolution had been tabled last year and approved by a majority of only 21 on a 32 per cent turnout.

The no-confidence motion was originally not allowed because its proposer, Paul Ablett, is standing for election to the committee in West District where he will oppose cricket chairman Bob Platt.

The committee felt it was unacceptable because the rules state that candidates shall not make derogatory or critical comments about the club or it players, officials and employees.

Ablett, however, threatened legal action over the matter and Hassell commented yesterday: "While a potential conflict with Mr Ablett's nomination for the committee election remains a concern, the committee is minded to admit the resolution provided it remains distinct from the election campaign."

But Hassell also warned that Ablett could face disqualification from the election if he breached the rule which says that candidates should not make derogatory comments about the club or its officials.
