The Millennium bug is not squished, just dormant, waiting to bite on February 29.
That is the fear expressed by the Association of Chartered Accountants which says that firms, particularly small businesses in North Yorkshire may soon discover that they are not living in a bug-free zone.
David Harvey, head of ACCA's small business unit warned: "There is a danger in writing of Y2K issues of as the century's biggest scam.
"It is likely that many bug-related problems have yet to surface, while any temporary solutions currently in place will need further maintenance in the coming months.
"Certain tests have demonstrated that the date February 29 - 2000 being a leap year - may cause more disruption than January 1."
