Railway Institute Tuesday-Thursday 'A' played well to record a 9-0 home win over Students 'B' in Men's Division One of the York Badminton League.
Mike Corley and Peter Saxton top scored for the Institute with three wins for 91-44, while Nick Bullock and Simon Croall were the pick of the student pairs, who tried hard without success.
Shepherds scored an 8-1 home win over Clifton 'B' in Men's Two. Clifton were a pairing short due to illness and then had to concede a further three rubbers owing to an injury picked up in the opening game of the first rubber. C Stuart and S Christian picked the Clifton consolation with an 8-15 17-15 15-12 win over Dave Simpson and Harvey Taylor.
Dave Hearn and Rob Overall hit top form for Selby 77 as their side beat rivals Drax 'D' 6-3 in Men's Two. Hearn and Overall took three wins for 94-47 including a 17-14 17-14 over John Prickett and John Formby, who took two Drax wins in good display.
Riverside Ladies lost out 0-9 at home to Clifton in Ladies Division One. Shelagh Barker and Geraldine Screeton put in the best Clifton display with three straight wins for 90-36.
York RI hit good home form to beat University Students 'A' 9-0 in Mixed Division One. Heather Powell and Jonathan Main dominated the Institute averages with three straight wins for a return of 90-36. Duncan Bosworth and Sue Cooper tried hard for the Students without success.
Millthorpe 'B' pulled of a surprise 7-2 away win over Pocklington 'B' in Mixed Three. The scratch Millthorpe pairing of Clare McQuade and Phil Gilbert played well in their first match together recording three wins for a total of 97-64.
Clive Debenham and Carolyn Arden took three Huntington 'B' wins as their side went down 4-5 away to RI T/Thursday 'B' in Mixed Division Four.
Debenham and Arden returned 92-50 from three straight wins but Tony Kirkman and Karen Wilkinson sealed the Institute win in the eighth rubber when they beat Marie I'Anson and Dave Nelson seven and eight.
York Police continued their steamroller domination of Mixed Four with an 8-1 away win over Drax 'D'.
Peter and Carol Howes topscored for the police with three straight wins for a total of 90-22. S Hallas and T Nicoline took the Drax win with a four and seven over Dave Todd and S Thompson.
