It is often said that the three most important points about a property are location, location, location. This is something that York council seemed to be unaware of regarding the Rawcliffe Bar Park and Ride Site.
Your article about the problem of smells associated with the site's location (January 11) is just one of and not the least of the problems associated with its location. These issues were all raised at the time of the council's consultation exercise.
Now with the council's proposals for turning the A19/Skipton Road into another Blackpool Golden Mile they obviously now realise that the Park and Ride scheme is not going to be the success that they had hoped for.
One must wonder about or fear for the success of other similar consultation processes, such as the introduction of wheelie bins or the spending review affecting swimming baths and libraries.
My advice to your readers would be that the most effective consultation process is the one they are offered at local government election time.
