Corrina: wide search
The stepfather of a 14-year-old York schoolgirl missing for nearly four days today pleaded with her: "Please come home - we can work things out."
Corrina Steele - who is also known as Corrina Laycock - of Keble Park North, Bishopthorpe, has not been seen since Friday evening.
Her parents have been wracked with fear and concern for her safety since her stepfather, James Laycock, arrived at her place of work, the Marcia pub in Bishopthorpe, to find she had already left. It is now thought she may be with an older friend.
"This is very alarming for us, and we thought she had been abducted at first," said Mr Laycock.
"Family, friends and relatives have been out scouring the area but now we think she may be in the Leeds or Tadcaster area."
Mr Laycock said Corrina's mother, Jennifer, was particularly suffering because of her daughter's disappearance.
"She's grief-stricken and is not in a good state of health."
The family found a note Corrina had written to them saying she would be running away after she had disappeared.
In an impassioned plea for his stepdaughter to get in contact with the family, Mr Laycock said: "Please come home Corrina, we can work things out. Your safety is our first concern."
Corrina was wearing a black skirt and a distinctive silver jacket when she was last seen in Bishopthorpe at 9pm on Saturday night.
She is 5ft tall and slim with dark, collar length hair.
"Her parents are very concerned for her safety as it has been four days since they last saw her," said Acting Sergeant Andy Farrar, who is leading the investigation. If you have any information about Corrina, contact York police on 01904 631321.
