If the wind is in the wrong direction, visitors to the Rawcliffe Bar Park & Pong site are assured of a unique welcome to York.
Having travelled here to experience a whiff of ancient history, they will open their car door and be assaulted by a much more elementary odour.
The problem was known about for years before the park and ride scheme was commissioned. Local residents have complained about it often enough. A solution needs to be found quickly before York's "special atmosphere" takes on a new meaning.
