The wreckage of the car in which a man was killed in a crash on the A1079 near Kexby
Fresh appeals have been made for safety improvements at a notorious accident blackspot near York after it claimed another life.
Motorist Jonathan David Naylor died when his green Citroen ZX car left the A1079 near Kexby Bridge, near York, and smashed into a tree.
Mr Naylor, 21, of West Park, Leeds, had to be cut from the car by firefighters and died at the scene. It is believed no other cars were involved.
Nearby resident Peter Rusted said that in three previous accidents on the road, vehicles had ended up going through his hedge. Mr Rusted expressed concern about the speed of vehicles on the A1079 in the area between Kexby Bridge and the Catton turn-off, and said he was considering pressing for traffic calming measures similar to the ones already in Kexby and Dunnington.
It is only a week since Humberside police announced a road safety campaign for the A1079 and another busy road, the A166. Any witnesses to the accident on Saturday should contact Beverley traffic department on 01482 597905.

Both were said to be comfortable yesterday.
The occupants of the Micra, Frederick George Atkinson, 84, and Elizabeth Doreen Atkinson, 82, both from Skipton, were killed.
Three people suffered serious injuries in another accident at the junction of the A1034 and the B1230 near South Newbald at about 12.45pm on Saturday.
