The St William's Singers are a group of ex-choir members set up by the Dean of York, the Very Rev Raymond Furnell.
Richard Shephard, headmaster at the Minster School, said the idea had been to invite back all those who had been choristers during Mr Furnell's time as Dean. The choir sang for the first time on Christmas Eve, then again at the Minster's Epiphany service.
They are due to sing again at Easter.
Mr Shephard said: "It's a way of keeping former choristers in touch with the Minster and also of providing an interesting added musical resource for the Minster."
All the members are now at other schools or at university and are aged up to 21.
