The Harrogate International Toy & Christmas Fair kicks off this weekend with a number of North Yorkshire firms displaying their weird and wonderful innovations.

The fair, whose 51st year starts tomorrow at the Harrogate International Centre and runs until Wednesday offers a unique opportunity to see what's tipped to be top for tots in 2000.
This is the first chance to spot next year's favourites - from Pokemon and Toy Story 2 to Barbie and Alien Eggs.
"If talking trees, fibre optic fairies and singing reindeers were the decorations of the 90's, a visit to the fair will show what the new Millennium can muster," said a spokesman.
Unfortunately members of the public will have to wait until a little later in the year to see what delights they can buy for their kids - as this show is a trade fair.
Among the local firms on show are Thirsk-based Metro Soft Toys, Peter Haddock from Bridlington, suppliers of children's books, Escrick firm A & A Soft Toys and Trico Sales, based at Clifton Moor, York. Top Century Enterprises from Malton will be displaying their fibre-optic angels and Santas as well as wreaths, garlands and accessories.
