Market Weighton played well to win 6-3 at home to Knavesmire in ladies division two of York Badminton League.
Sue Durston and Sue Smith set Market Weighton on the road to victory with three straight wins, totalling 90-36.
Four days later Knavesmire lost 7-2 away to St John's. Carol Bell and Heather Richardson played well for Knavesmire, scoring a one and six win over V White and N Smallwood.
The battle of the form teams in men's division one saw Railway Institute beat University Students 'A' 6-3 at the RI gym. Duncan Bosworth and Bernie Schwartz scored two wins for the Students but lost five and five to the Institute's best pairing Tim Jarvis and Paul Hardcastle.
Millthorpe pulled off a surprise 6-3 win away to Drax 'B' in men's division two. Paul Elliott and Roger Martin were in tremendous form for the visitors, recording three straight wins for 90-43. They were well supported by John Deighton and Keith Burrows, who scored three Millthorpe wins for a return of 106-93.
RI Tuesday/Thursday 'B' whitewashed visitors Bubwith 9-0 in men's division three. Bubwith's Bob Atkinson and R Shepherds lost only 15-11 7-15 13-15 to Barry Woodward and Dan Brook.
Rowntree 'A' pipped their 'B' team 5-4 in mixed division one thanks mainly to Craig Dobson and Kath Watt gaining three wins, although they pushed hard to beat Helen Shepherd and Mark Baker 15-11 7-15 15-13.
Students 'B' scored two home wins - 5-4 against Pockling 'A' and then 7-2 over Millthorpe 'A' - to reinforce their position at the top of mixed division two.
Mike Jones and Caroline Grubb scored three straight wins for 92-54 against Pocklington 'A'. Millthorpe 'A' were a pairing short due to illness. Jones and Grubb were given a hard match by John Deighton and Ann Casper before winning 8-15 15-5 17-16.
Tadcaster 86 played well to win 5-4 away to Millthorpe 'B' in mixed division three. Alan Ward and Margaret Gardiner scored the vital maximum for Tadcaster for a return of 105-86, including a tough 15-13 3-15 15-13 win over Keith Burrows and Jane Severn, who scored two wins for Millthorpe.
York University Staff Club 'A' , going well in mixed division four, won 6-3 away to Selby 77 'B', whose Paul Frost and Lisa Ward were unbeaten. Nicky Rolley and Andy Brown sealed the match for the Staff Club in the seventh rubber with an 11 and ten win over Dave and Jenny Barker.
Shepherd's maintained their winning record in mixed division five with an 8-1 win away to Terry Suchard. L Metcalfe and S Harker scored three straight wins for 90-25. Judy Wilson and Ian Forman of Terry's scored an eight and ten win over Ian MacLaren and J Warren.
Chris Miller and Lynsey Spicer were in top form as mixed division six leaders St John's won 7-2 at home to Bubwith. Miller and Spicer totalled 92-40 in three straight wins, including a 17-16 15-8 victory over Bob Atkinson and Sheila Fixter, who scored both Bubwith's wins.
