Bulger killers' damages prove society is crazy
How many people, like myself, were appalled at the news in Thursday's Press of the damages awarded to the killers of Jamie Bulger (Evening Press, December 16)? What sort of a crazy society are we living in? How on earth can judges in Strasbourg come up with such a decision as awarding £15,000 and £29,000 for killing an innocent toddler? No matter how you look at it, this is what it means. Leisure plan praised
City of York Council is to be congratulated for 'grasping the nettle' in carrying out a review of its leisure facilities, which may result in the conversion of the Barbican and Yearsley swimming pools into private health club (Evening Press, December 14). Shambles of a system
My wife and I recently travelled in to York by car (sorry Mr Prescott). The parking charge of 70p for one hour was reasonable, but I hadn't bargained for the obstacle course to reach Shambles car park. What is the point of double yellow lines if they don't apply to all and sundry? Why these shelters?
So, City of York Council have ordered two new bus shelters in response to public demand. Is there to be no explanation why the new silly screens (suitable only for advertising) were ordered in the first place? Who ordered them? Has anyone been reprimanded? And why are they to remain?
