Evening Press Reader's Letter
I live in Haxby and work on Huntington Road not far from the Nestl factory. I normally travel to work either by car or bicycle.
The journey by car normally takes 15 minutes (providing I leave Haxby before 7.50am) and 25 minutes by bike (I'm not the world's fastest cyclist!)
However, on December 6, I decided to travel to work by bus as I was meeting friends for drinks and a meal in York after work. I left my home at 7.40am, eventually caught a bus at 8.20am and it then took another 35 minutes to get through the various traffic obstacles in Haxby and to my destination.
I eventually arrived at 8.55am - one hour and a quarter to travel four miles.
Does John Prescott, the Labour Government and the City of York Council honestly believe they can convince people to use public transport with a track record like that?
