Dog-owners Emma Mellors and Adam Kent have suffered a double blow with the disappearance of their pet lurcher two weeks after the death of her twin.
Emma and Adam, from Holgate Road, York, lost two-year-old Bunty two weeks ago when she disappeared on Hob Moor and was found later on nearby railway tracks having been hit by a train.
Now Suki, her identical sister, has gone missing during a walk along the Derwent Valley Railway cycle path on Tuesday and the couple believe the friendly dog may have been taken in by a family in the Tang Hall, Heworth or Layerthorpe area.
Emma said: "She's upset because her sister's gone and she's a very friendly dog so she could have gone up to somebody."
The couple are appealing for anyone who might recognise the dog to contact them.
Suki is a long-haired tan lurcher with a beard and black toenails. She is wearing a thin brown leather collar.
Adam said: "We're devastated that we lost Bunty.
"We were really fond of them both and it would be heart-breaking to loose two in such a short space of time.
"I think she's probably been taken in by someone because she's such a lovely dog and she's so cute that if she turned up on someone's doorstep she's the type of dog you might want to keep."
If you think you recognise Suki, pictured here on the right, call Emma and Adam on 01904 630005.
