Evening Press Reader
British Gas welcomes the excellent article by Stephen Lewis (Evening Press, November 18) on the national campaign to combat the dangers of carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning.
So we issue these warnings:
CO is a silent killer because you can't see, taste or smell it. Symptoms are flu-like and tell-tale signs include headaches, chest pains, sickness, weakness, tiredness and fatigue. If you have these symptoms stop using your appliances immediately and contact the Transco emergency service on 0800 111999 and contact your local GP.
Make sure your appliances are correctly installed, and serviced annually through Three Star Service Cover from British Gas, or by another CORGI-registered qualified engineer.
For added protection British Gas advises customers to buy a British Standard audible CO detector, which can be fitted by one of our engineers on their service visits for around £35.
For more information on CO and servicing call British Gas on 0645 605040.
