A notable omission from your round-up of North Yorkshire pubs which have made it into the millennium edition of the Good Beer Guide is the Ferryboat Inn at Thorganby - the first time the Ferryboat has appeared in 'the beer drinkers' bible'.
For anyone who doesn't know, the Ferryboat is probably the best pub in the world, an oasis of tranquility nestling on the banks of the Derwent.
With no jukebox, fruit machines or pool table, the loudest noise you are likely to have to compete with is the clatter of dominoes or the monthly folk club. Oh, and the Old Mill bitter and the guest beers are brilliant too.
The landlord, Norman Rogers, is presently poorly in hospital and I'm certain that all his regulars would like to wish him well.
