Your article (May 27) on 44-year-old Sheila O'Shea of Wilberfoss who had emergency treatment for a detached retina was of particular interest to we oldies waiting for second cataract operations.
As was made clear, there is no connection between waiting times and the standard of care people receive once they are in York District Hospital. This is excellent.
Criticism of waiting times has never been an implied criticism of nursing staff.
We all agree we cannot wait to get in to be treated by them but, of course, we must.
I am sorry Sheila has now developed a cataract but grateful she is happy to wait for it to be done so we oldies can be treated first.
It's one in the eye for those who say younger people are not worried about what happens to older folk.
