Music, as I'm sure many housewives and househusbands will agree, is an enormous help as an accompaniment to the dreaded housework. My main passion is for the classical variety.
However, overcome by nostalgia I recently played some of Bob Dylan's early songs. My husband walked in expecting dinner and, throwing down his tool bag, inquired: "Who's the singing drunkard?"
The times, they must have been a'changing.
If only I had noticed I might have invested in one of those divine househusbands.
"Put your feet up darling, and drink this nice cup of Yorkshire tea while I dust/polish/bake bread." That would indeed be music to my ancient ears.
To be fair my husband is a wizard at rustling up culinary delights, known here as 'Lawson's Refreshments', after which it's almost a pleasure to do the vast amount of washing up.
