THE York teenager who tried to hang himself in his cell at a young offenders institution was today very poorly in Harrogate District Hospital.
The 17-year-old has been in intensive care since he made the suicide attempt on Wednesday after being sent to Wetherby Young Offenders Institution by Selby Youth Court on Monday.
The teenager, who has severe learning difficulties, admitted offences including possession of a controlled drug.
His parents have been critical of the sentence and the ease with which their son apparently managed to make the attempt on his own life.
