The story of Judi Fisk and her pony, Copper, is testament to the wonderful bond that can develop between humans and animals. Judi lost her leg after being kicked by a mare at her riding centre. That experience would have put many people off horses for a lifetime.
But she was determined to get back in the saddle.
After the accident, Copper had stayed by her side until the ambulance arrived. And Judi credits this remarkable animal with giving her the confidence to ride again.
Only three weeks after her leg was amputated, she was back riding Copper. The pony has now won a place in the Horse of the Year finals. If any animal deserves a gold medal it is Copper.
