Recently I tripped up and thought I had broken a toe and knee cap. A friend took me to York District Hospital's Accident and Emergency unit.
I had hardly sat down when I was called to the reception desk and, after checking in, I had no sooner sat down in the ward when a nurse took me into a cubicle. It is true that I waited about 30 minutes before being seen by a doctor but I could hear him and realised that I was a non-urgent case.
From your article Hospital Watch (Evening Press, May 18) I realise that I was in the 'blue' corridor. The whole atmosphere was relaxed and the nurse and the doctor could not have been more kind, comforting and efficient. I have nothing but praise for the way I was treated.
When I left the waiting room seemed to be full. I only suffered a bad cut and cartilage bruising.
