THIS Labour Government regards genetically modified food as a beneficial development within the food industry.

Tony Blair has been urging people to eat as much GM food as they can cram into their stomachs, saying he eats the lovely stuff most days.

A totally dissimilar attitude, though, is taken by British doctors and scientists who warn they do not know the long-term effects on health or the fragile environment.

Because Blair and his cronies obviously know nothing about food science, I am anxious to know why they can put new science above the risk to our health and environment and not be swiftly hounded out of office.

I am disappointed that the GM scandal has not triggered a General Election by now with a resounding Tory or Liberal Democrat victory.

This Government seems interested only in profitability, not in human safety. Is this a big first for a Socialist administration? I think we should be told.
