Further to your article in the Press (May 8) about cataract operations in York District Hospital. I was there for that operation on May 4 and I can tell you first hand it is exactly as you report.
The staff on Ward 27, where I went for my assessment, and operation were possibly the kindest and most caring I have ever met. No one need suffer anxiety when the dreaded word 'operation' is mentioned because you will be in the safe hands of a wonderful team.
After two operations for glaucoma and now one for cataract I can only say with immense gratitude: thanks to all at York eye care department for my sight.
