Congratulations to your newspaper and its readers for your wonderful achievement in raising more than £11,487 for the children of Kosovo.
There can be nobody in this country that has not been moved by the plight of these refugees and here at UNICEF we have been overwhelmed by the scale of public response to our appeal.
UNICEF is playing a key role in providing health care, education, family reunifications and trauma counselling for refugee children.
Our work relies heavily on support from local individuals, businesses and community organisations and the appeal run by your newspaper has been instrumental in enabling us to reach thousands of children in need.
I can say with true conviction that through the efforts of the Yorkshire Evening Press and its readers, children's lives have been saved.
My thanks to you all
