One of the United Kingdom's leading small business lobby groups has launched a video guide illustrating how business people and consumers can cheaply and easily settle a legal claim using the new civil court process.
See You In Court! produced by the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB), is a guide to the new Small Claims Track - part of the new County Court system in England and Wales.
The video guide sets out to show that people need not be reluctant to go to law to seek redress for any claims made for or against them.
FSB's policy unit chairman, Brian Prime, said: "The small claims process is a important tool for small businesses, with many taking a claim to court because of money owed as late payment.
"Many people, both business owners and consumers, have at some time or another either been owed money, found themselves the victim of shoddy workmanship or been sold a faulty product, yet feel put off by legal action because of its perceived complexity and cost.
"Others have faced a claim themselves and feared an intimidating legal procedure." Presented by ex-Police 5 anchorman Shaw Taylor, See You In Court! follows four typical case studies through the legal process.
See You In Court! is available by sending a cheque for £15 (which includes postage and packaging), made out to FSB (Video), to: DSW, The Mailing House, Milber Trading Estate, Newton Abbot, Devon, TQ12 4SG.
