City of York Hockey Club's first appearance in the Yorkshire Mixed Hockey Cup final did not even provide a mixed blessing.

Despite dominating the first-half against opponents Wakefield DC in the showdown at York University the City slickers eventually ran out of steam to lose 2-1.
City of York carved out a glut of chances in the first-half, forcing several penalty corners. But they were all to no avail petering out against Wakefield's stern defence.
After the interval Wakefield took command scoring in quick succession from a penalty corner and then a flick over the 'keeper's head from the edge of the circle area.
In a late raid Graham Guffick poached a consolation reply.
