York fielded two juniors in their first competitive match in division one of the IT Sports sponsored York and District Mixed Tennis League.
And the move paid off to great effect as they beat Dunnington II 72-36.
Lindsey Jacks, who is 13, partnered Steve Smith and won 29 games, and their other junior Becky Fong played with Vic Fielder and came away with 25 games.
Sherburn, who narrowly missed out on promotion from division two, have started their matches in winning form, beating relegated Selby 63-45 with their first couple of Angie Bramley and Jonathon Sharp winning all three rubbers for 25 games.
Last week they continued in unbeaten form with a win against Wigginton 56-52 with the same pairing again topping the averages with good support from Sue Espiner and Nigel Huggins. Wigginton's Denise Crane and Mike Baxter were unbeaten.
Poppleton maintained their unbeaten run with a draw at Appleton Roebuck in a very close match between all six couples, and then entertained Tadcaster in a tight match-winning 58-50. Poppleton's top scorers Sally and Hugh Fowles won their last rubber 11-1 to see them take the points.
Bishopthorpe have moved to the top of division three at this early stage after they kept their unbeaten run going on their visit to Castlegarth by winning 60-48.
Jane Parkin and Chris Sharples were unbeaten for Bishopthorpe, and Frances Critchley and Simon Watson weighed in with a timely 10-2 win in their last game to win in a tight fixture.
Wigginton have started their division four campaign with a win against Dunnington after gaining promotion last season. In the 61-47 win Barbara Streather and Ken Storey were the top scorers, but none of the Wigginton team could beat Dunnington's Margaret Jenkins and Andrew Lydiatt.
Stillington reversed last year's results when they played Strensall in division five by coming out on top 64-44. Betty Bainton and John Dougherty lead the way winning all three sets 8-4.
Fulford are in second place after they won against Appleton Roebuck 67-41 with Jeanne Loadman and Terry Haw top scoring with 25 games, closely followed by mother and son pairing of Evelyn and Patrick Atkinson.
Riccall have gone to the top of division six on games difference after their win against Wheldrake 62-46 thanks to top scorers Sarah Clay and Noel Shouksmith who were unbeaten with 23 games.
Bubwith are in second place after their encounter with Sheriff Hutton which they won 69-39, winning eight of the nine rubbers.
Civil Service are in third place after a tight match at Heworth, winning 57-51. Either Civil or Bubwith will lose their unbeaten record as the two teams meet this week.Strensall, who won promotion to division seven, are leading the way after defeating Wigginton 61-47. June Murphy and Jeff Poole were Strensall's top scorers. Fulford managed to edge home last week with a 55-53 win after losing by the same score in their opening fixture against Appleton Roebuck in a match of fluctuating fortunes.
Pat Brisbane and Terry Haw were the highest scorers for Fulford.
Cawood had a good win at New Earswick 71-37 with Lesley and Terry Savage showing the way with 28 games. They were well supported by Sue Hatchett and Andrew Dunning.
Strensall thirds are topping division eight after a big win at Wilberfoss with Carol and Matthew Ward winning 32 games to complete a good start of the season for the club. Tollerton are pushing for one of the top spots after they had a comfortable win against Cawood 60-48.
Castlegarth and Cliffe, two of the teams promoted to division nine, are at the top after both recorded wins. Castlegarth went to Appleton Roebuck and won 60-48, for whom Kate Bradley and Walter Skubiak won 26 games.
Cliffe went to Civil Service and had a closer match and emerged with the points after winning 57-51 with only two games splitting the difference in games won by all three pairings.
Sutton-on-Derwent, who finished with the wooden spoon in division ten, are now at the top after winning their opening two matches. They won at Riccall 63-45 and then travelled to Tollerton and won 68-40, already equalling the number of points they gained all last season.
Will all team captains ensure that they put the names of their teams in full and legibly and with care over spelling.
Poppleton start in style
In Division one of the Tyke Petroleum Men's Tennis League, Poppleton had a good start with a 78-30 win over Dunnington, Rob Jones and John Moore winning 29.
Moore and Mike Binns then took 30 of the 72-36 against Civil Service.Wigginton had a poor start providing only one couple against York and then two against Dunnington.
Rowntree Park remained unbeaten in top spot.
Fulford beat nearest rivals Bishopthorpe in division two, and Riccall and Sherburn are also unbeaten in top spot.

Division three fixtures were upset by the early withdrawal of Rowntree Park II.Sutton Upon Derwent beat Wheldrake 82-26 with Chris French and Chris Hobson scoring 29.
Top scorers in division four were H Batchelor and M Jenkins with 31 for Dunnington II in the 90-18 defeat of Wigginton II.
Castlegarth II lead the division with maximum points.Sheriff Hutton are the only unbeaten team in division five having beaten Cawood and Strensall who are second and third.
Newcomers Boston Spa lead division six with top scorers John Develly and Dennis Hobson losing only one game against Wheldrake. Unbeaten Rufforth's Phil Telfer and Andy Ivel scored 11 in each rubber against Bishopthorpe III.
