Full Spate, a winner at Thirsk a fortnight ago, returns to the same course tomorrow with excellent prospects of completing a double.

The four-year-old bids for the Black Cat Fireworks Handicap - which is set to be televised on Channel 4 - and, raised only 4lb for his latest success, is napped to come through with flying colours.

Thought to be a Group-class horse, when previously trained by Roger Charlton, Full Spate changed hands for a mere 15,000 guineas last autumn, when still a maiden, and was bought by Milton Bradley, a man with an uncanny knack of rejuvenating under-achievers.

Full Spate got off the mark here over seven furlongs when beating Asef Alhind by three-quarters of a length, having gone to the front full of running some two furlongs from home.

Tomorrow's drop down in distance is unlikely to inconvenience Full Spate and indeed, it might well suit him better, given that he is clearly a horse with a high cruising speed. With useful apprentice Craig Carver again in the saddle, he can win again.

Waterford Spirit should not be overlooked in the Easingwold Handicap.

Trained at nearby Maunby by David Barron, the Peter Savill-owned sprinter gave notice that his winning turn was near on this course two weeks ago when finishing fourth to Rudi's Pet in an all-aged handicap.

Taking on only three-year-olds tomorrow, he deserves plenty of respect.

Barron can also hit the target with Half Moon Bay, who made a very impressive debut here at the last meeting. Highly regarded by his trainer this smart two-year-old can follow-up in the EBF Carlton Miniott Novice Stakes.

At Newbury, the £130,000 Juddmonte Lockinge Stakes looks an ideal race for Intikhab to launch his new campaign.

Last season's outstanding miler returns from a long absence here, but the Godolphin horses rarely need a race, and he will surely take all the beating.

Kadaka is selected to lift the Aston Park Stakes over one mile and five furlongs.

The four-year-old stays this trip well and is favoured by the conditions of the race.

Sure to be all the better for her recent outing in the Jockey Club Stakes, when she was beaten less than five lengths by Silver Patriarch, Kadaka can fulfil that promise here.

Luca Cumani, trainer of Kadaka, can also feature strongly at Newmarket where he saddles the unbeaten Kalanisi in the Milcars King Charles II Stakes.

This potentially top-class colt was mightily impressive when scoring at Newmarket on 1,000 Guineas Day and has the scope to climb a lot further up the ladder yet. Pat Eddery has the mount on this exciting prospect.

Richard Fahey has enjoyed a splendid week, saddling two winners on Knavesmire, Night Flight on Tuesday and Raheen, who scored at 9-1 yesterday.

The Butterwick trainer sends Princely Dream to Newmarket for the Coral Showcase Sprint Handicap and this useful three-year-old can make a bold bid.

Zaajer enters Classic picture

Young trainer Ed Dunlop already has one Classic in the bag and is harbouring hopes of quickly adding to his haul after the convincing victory of Zaajer at York.

The colt was able to secure the Michael Seely Memorial Glasgow Stakes yesterday despite being short of his best, according to his trainer.

The victory leaves Zaajer as a possible contender for the Vodafone Derby or its French equivalent at Chantilly.

Dunlop won France's equivalent of the 1000 Guineas with Ta Rib and at present favours the Chantilly Classic.

But with owner Hamdan Al Maktoum thinly-represented at Epsom, Zaajer may take his place in the line-up.

Godolphin's Mukhalif, beaten by one of the leading Derby contenders Beat All on his last outing, was sent off favourite to take the Listed contest.

But he had no answer to the late flourish of 7-1 shot Zaajer who swept by to score by one and a half lengths.

With doubts over his Epsom participation, bookmakers were prepared to quote 25-1 for the blue riband.

"I've always said that I would veer in the direction of the French Derby but, of course, it would depend on what the owner wanted to do in the end," said Dunlop.

"I was surprised that he was able to win today. I thought he wouldn't be fit enough," he added.http://home./
