Scarborough manager Colin Addison has moved quickly to prune his playing staff in preparation for life in the Conference next season.
One-time skipper John Kay, ex-York City defender Paddy Atkinson, strikers Andy Saville and Liam Robinson, midfielders Wayne Bullimore and Gary Porter and player-coach Derek Mountfield have all been released.
Goalkeeper Tony Elliott has had to retire because of on-going back problems and Tony Parks, who has made such an impression since arriving at the McCain Stadium in February, has been offered non-contract terms together with a part-time coaching job.
Full-back Graeme Atkinson has been offered a new contract but is due to have talks with Mansfield Town later this week.
Another ex-Minsterman, Chris Tate, who bagged 12 goals in 17 starts and has been revelation since the arrival of Addison, has refused to sign his new contract and speculation is mounting that he could leave the club shortly.
It is understood that Preston, Huddersfield and Carlisle have all shown an interest in Tate.
Welsh midfielder Nathan Jones has returned to Southend United following his loan spell while Jason Lydiate, who has been on loan at Rochadale, has also been released.
