It Is with amazement that I write this letter. Our company owns the Adult Shop in Gillygate, York. In the past six months of trading we have encountered many York leaders of industry etc, who have tried to drive us out of the city.
We have suffered from media exposure on local radio and television and a host of other things, including estate agents who will not reply to our requests for purchasing further property, and most recently being turned down by York City Football Club from sponsoring the team.
In other towns our company supports many charities, the Lions Clubs, Children in Need, Oxfam and others. We are all family people 'we haven't got three heads.'
The only encouragement we have received is from City of York councillors who at a meeting wished us good luck when they heard our plans, and the customers themselves who have supported the shop since its inception.
It is obvious York needs this shop, our takings prove that. Well, York, we are not going away. We will continue to pay our rates and taxes, employ York people, and hopefully, expand within the city if we can find someone to sell us property.
We are determined to stay and trade profitably.
