Whitby sea dog Jack Lammiman is preparing to enter the choppy waters of international celebrity. Next week sees the charity premiere of the film about his sail of the century.
Bob Hoskins portrays Lammiman when he ignored naval warnings and voyaged to the Arctic and back in his boat Helga Marie. After Little Voice put Scarborough on the movie map, Captain Jack is set to do the same for Whitby.
Jack Lammiman will take all the media attention in his stride. But if you have faced the might of the Arctic Ocean in a two-masted schooner, an interview with Barry Norman is not going to seem so daunting.
