A fistful of medals were seized by the Wigginton, Selby and Northallerton Karate clubs after a day-long event in Luton. More than 20 youngsters travelled south for the event, which was staged in preparation for the Japan Karate Association's world championships to be held next year.
The local medal-winners were: Amy Barker silver team kata, silver kumite and bronze individual kata; Rebecca Holmes silver team kata, gold individual kata; Rachel Barker gold kumite; Alice Barker gold kata; Carla Leadley bronze kata; Serena Sawdon-Holland bronze kata; Lisa Robinson bronze kata; Wayne Robinson gold kata; Grant Smith silver senior kumite; Paul Bennett bronze kata; Spence Stevens silver kumite; Dee Burnett bronze kumite.
