WITH regard to the review of the Michael Ball concert at the York Barbican written by Charles Hutchinson (Evening Press, April 20), we would like to know exactly what Michael would have to do to get a good review from you people?

All we can say is it is a good job he has got the support of thousands of adoring women. He would have given up years ago if he had to rely on the likes of Mr Hutchinson for support.

How many singers are so versatile that they can cross the range from pop to rock and roll, to country, to musicals, to ballads and indeed even opera? Not many we would suggest.

We would have thought that a 26-date sell-out tour, with extra dates being added to cope with demand, spoke for itself.

Clearly more people out there think like us than Mr Hutchinson.

From the comments we heard from people leaving the Barbican that night, we did not hear a single negative one from either male or female. Perhaps Mr Hutchinson should try to get to know Golden Boy a little better - find out just how much he appreciates the support of his fans.

Michael admitted that he had not been well and indeed had actually had to cancel part of his tour - something we have never known him do before in the eight years we have followed him.

We have the utmost admiration for someone who, despite feeling under the weather, came out on stage and gave the best possible performance he could - unlike most men who usually take to their beds at the first sign of any illness.
