Yorkshire skipper David Byas and England all-rounder, Craig White, could line-up for Scarborough against Rotherham on Saturday.

It promises to be a fascinating encounter between the county stars and Rotherham pace ace Lesroy Weekes.

Byas set a league record with the highest number of runs scored in a season - 1,394 - when he captained Scarborough in 1984 and Weekes broke the bowling record for the number of wickets taken in a season - 88 - in 1996.

Byas will also be leading Yorkshire against India on Sunday in a World Cup warm-up game at St George's Road, Harrogate.

York's Yorkshire League game at Harrogate, originally scheduled for tomorrow, has been put back until Sunday, May 16 because Harrogate have been asked to concentrate on ground preparations ahead of the World Cup warm-up the following day.

Pickering were always welcome visitors to Clifton Park when they were regular champions of the East Yorkshire Cup Competition and will be in Costcutter York Senior League Premiership action there tomorrow against York 'A', who are being led by York University research chemist John O'Grady, a wicket keeper/batsman who has taken over the captaincy from Malcolm Pringle.

Harrogate Rugby Union Club's fly half Ben Quick is named in the York side. The National Clubs Cricket Knock Out provides plenty of local interest this weekend with Goole visiting York on Sunday and Scarborough take on Dunnington at North Marine Road.

With York's skipper Ian Dews on County duty at St George's Road on Sunday, York's wicketkeeper Nigel Durham, equally at home behind the stumps or behind the York RUFC scrum, leads York into action against Goole.

Dews' place is being taken by 17-year-old Steve Piercy, who scored a half century against Pocklington last weekend.

The place of Scarborough's overseas player Brad Wigney is taken by right arm seamer Richard Gilbert. Andy Holden deputises for Mark Wells who is working.
