York Cricket Club is setting up a development scheme to coach children in cricket skills.
It is aimed at the seven to 12-year-old age group and is for both boys and girls.
It will be held on Friday evenings, starting tomorrow, from 6pm and 8pm at the club's Clifton Park ground on Shipton Road.
It will be led by Bob Paddison, a well known local cricket coach and cricketer, who is chairman of York and District Coaches' Association.
York CC chairman Chris Houseman said: "We have established quite a successful 12 to 16 years squad over the last four years but the key development age is at the younger level.
"As an English Cricket Board Premier League club, we must play our part in the expansion of the game. As the top club in the area, we must play our part in the expansion of the game. As the top club in the area we have a responsibility to create excellence and groom the best players rather than live off the efforts of others.
"Bob Paddison has an excellent track record with this age group so we believe this will be an successful venture."
Interested children should enrol on Fridays at 5.45pm or contact Chris Houseman on 01904 621258.
