Landlord Adrian Wilkinson has not changed much since leaving Joseph Rowntree School 23 years ago.
CLASS OF '75 REUNION: Some of those involved in the Joseph Rowntree School reunion - On the wall, left to right, Barry Mason, Shaun McDonnell, Kerrie Shields and Adrian Wilkinson; front, Cath Gill (nee Hinde), Janet Curry (nee Holding), Carol Tragni (nee Fletcher), and Jackie Hearfield (nee Fallowfield) Picture by Steven Bradshaw
At the age of 14 he and his friends would catch a bus to town at lunch time, enjoy a plate of pie and chips and finish it off with a few pints of beer before afternoon lessons, a practice which eventually got him expelled.
He finds it ironic that he is now a successful licensee, a former landlord of the Spread Eagle in Walmgate, York, and currently landlord of the Golden Fleece, in Pavement, York.
And he is eager to find out how other classmates have turned out at a reunion being held in June for the Joseph Rowntree Class of '75 of which the registration list shows about 230 names.
Sixty people have so far been tracked down by Janet Curry (maiden name Holding) and Carol Tragni (maiden name Fletcher) who decided to organise the event to coincide with their 40th birthdays.
The remaining 170 missing pupils are asked to contact Janet or Adrian so all the old school chums can meet up for a party and disco in the function room of the Punch Bowl in Stonegate, on June 19.
Adrian said: "Janet and Carol have been working out where people live and ringing them up.
"They tracked me down and I've been thrilled so far just to meet a few of my ex-class mates.
"There is one guy in particular I haven't seen for years and we were really good pals at school.
"We all had some good times and I think it is worth while seeing what people are like now that all those years have passed."
If you think you are part of the class of '75, which would mean you are 40 between September 1, 1998, and August 31, 1999, contact Janet on 01904 768774 or Adrian on 01904 625171.
The price of tickets for the party will be £3 each including disco and light refreshments. Due to space restrictions only ex-pupils can attend.
