The next generation of Tim Henmans and Greg Rusedskis made the most of the glorious sunshine as York Tennis Club hosted its opening event of 'Play Tennis 99' week.

Organisers were slightly disappointed that only around 50 children took part on Saturday, but claimed the Bank Holiday may have accounted for the poor turn-out at Clifton Park.
The club were unable to use the pavilion which was subject to an arson attack last week but chairman John Linfoot said the good weather prevented it from causing a problem.
"It was a super day so we didn't need to retreat from the elements. It looks unsightly and is smelly if you get near it but it wasn't a problem as far as the day went," said Linfoot, who added that all those who took part thoroughly enjoyed the day.
Two more events will take place at the club this week as part of the national Play Tennis initiative.
Today, Tuesday May 4, there is free tennis for Evergreens (Over-50s) from 2-4pm while Friday night, May 7, from 6pm offers a chance to find out more about the club.
