Battling York City's keenest gaze will be on Northampton Town's Sixfields Stadium tonight.
Visitors to the tidy arena are none other than in-form Wigan Athletic, who could ease City's relegation fears even further should they prevail.
Anything less than a win for the Cobblers would leave them hobbling among the deadwood in the drop zone increasing the chances of another great escape for the Minstermen.
Before tonight's tussle Northampton are occupying the last relegation spot five points adrift of Neil Thompson's charges, who have played a game more.
With City out of reach of bottom two clubs Macclesfield and Lincoln City the Cobblers may also be fatally distanced should they fail to get a maximum haul from a clash rain ed off from last week.
Equally focused on events in Northampton will be Bournemouth, who visit Bootham Crescent on Saturday.
Teetering in the last play-off place the Cherries can be overhauled should Auto Windscreens shield winners Wigan take full advantage of their three games in hand starting tonight.
A win for the Latics at the Sixfields would put them within one point of Bournemouth, an outcome that will increase the south coast side's desperation to triumph over the Minstermen in just under three days' time.
To a man City are determined to finish the campaign with a winning flourish against Bournemouth and then away to Manchester City on the last day. But they would not kick back any help given by Wigan to nail the Cobblers.
Meanwhile, Andy McMillan will be hoping the 'boot' is put into his latest testimonial year venture.
A car boot sale is to be held this May day Monday at New Earswick Sports Club for beneficiary McMillan, who today was undergoing a 'clean-up' operation on his injured knee.
Besides the various vehicles offering wares - it's £6.50 each car on the day (£5 if pre-booked) - there will be various stalls, plus a goal shoot-out. The bar will be open all day.
Cars are to arrive at 9am and the sale will start an hour later. For details contact John Harris tel York 768609.
Meanwhile, there are still places in McMillan's golf day at The York Golf Club at Strensall, a week today on May 6. Details from Graham Burn tel York 655442.
City's under-16s team are to play host to the England Boys' Clubs' side at the Wigginton Road training ground on Sunday.
The fixture is a reprise of a similar clash two years ago when both sides shared a goal-less draw. The England squad are using the visit to York as preparation for the Home Nations' tournament later this month and Sunday's game kicks off at 1pm with admission being free.
