Staff at the Tourist Information Centre (TIC) in George Hudson Street will be emulating their manager Karen Gordon (St George) and centre assistant Natalie Smith (damsel in distress) by dressing up for St George's Day.
Their activities, which are also to mark national TIC week, include a treasure hunt with lots of exciting prizes, which will continue next week.
Karen said: "The English Tourist Board have asked TICs to promote St George's Day, as they feel the other United Kingdom countries do big things on their saints' days and England doesn't."
There is a serious side to the revelry, as all the money from the £1 entry fee in the treasure hunt will go to the Kosovo Crisis Appeal.
The costumes worn by the TIC staff have come from the Theatre Royal, as has the creature Karen is slaying, which was used in its recent production of Beauty and the Beast.
