Scarborough's plight at the bottom of the Nationwide League Division Three deepened as they crashed 3-1 at home to Leyton Orient.

A combination of missed chances, poor defending and the arrival of 38-year-old former French international Amara Simba turned the game on its head after Boro led.

Former York City junior Chris Tate scored his tenth goal of the season to give Scarborough the lead. Darren Roberts fed a delightful ball into the path of Steve Brodie, and when his shot was saved by the legs of Scott Barrett in the Orient goal, Tate, from 22 yards, scorched the ball past the desperate defenders into the net.

Eight minutes from half time Tony Richards curled a free kick around the rather thin wall past the despairing fingers of Tony Parks.

Scarborough who should have taken the lead when their former player Stuart Hicks slipped in the penalty area and gave the ball to Wayne Bullimore.

The midfielder's scuffed his shot well wide of goal and then Tate saw a 25-yard effort skid off the greasy turf to strike the post and bounce away to safety.

Steve Watts turned Graeme Atkinson inside out before laying the ball into the path of substitute Simba, who stroked the ball past Parks from 16 yards.

In the 75th minute worse was to come, when Watts left Atkinson and Jamie Hoyland floundering before picking out Simba, who beat Parks from 22 yards.
