York City Boys Under 11s soccer team have given themselves a great chance to win the Sheffield Green'Un Cup.
Sweeping changes are afoot for junior football in the region.
A goal from Michael Vickers (Headlands School) gave them a 1-0 win over previously unbeaten Leeds in the first leg of the final at the York Railway Institute ground.
It was sweet revenge for the York youngsters who were knocked out of the Yorkshire Cup, 3-2 by Leeds, at the semi-final stage.
The York team, managed by Adam Cooper and Graham Vickers, worked hard and dominated many periods of the game on a large pitch.
The return leg of the final will be played in Leeds this Saturday.
The following week the teams will meet again in the final Under 11 League game of the season at the Railway Institute Ground when the winners will take the league title.
