Our about animal cruelty last night referred to an RSPCA report on a horse which was found dead and in foal at a Pickering knackers yard.
The yard's owners, Harry Atkinson and Partners, have asked us to point out that the horse was actually dead when it was taken to the yard, and that they were not in any way responsible for its poor condition. Neither did the yard have any connection with another pony mentioned in the same story.
We apologise if our story caused any embarrassment to Harry Atkinson's.
