York City's crucial Second Division home game against Blackpool tonight was called off this afternoon because of waterlogging on the Bootham Crescent pitch.
Pools of water built up on the pitch after several hours of non-stop rain.
Referee Alan Wiley travelled up from Burntwood in Staffordshire and inspected the pitch around 3.30pm and had little option to call the match off.
It is the second time that the fixture has been postponed this season. The original game, scheduled for Tuesday, March 9, was also washed out because of torrential rain. On that occasion the match was called off at 5.20pm.
